Statement of Faith

Our Statement of Faith

The Scriptures

We believe the Old and New Testament Scriptures, the Bible, to be the infallible Word of God, given by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the final authority in all matters of faith and obedience.

(Psalm 19:7-11) (Psalm 119:11) (Psalm 119:105) (Isaiah 40:8) (Matthew 5:17-19) (John 17:17) (2 Tim. 3:14-17)

(Hebrews 4:12) (1 Pet. 1:22-25) (2 Pet. 1:19-21)

God

We believe there is one living and true God, Creator of all, eternally existing in unity of three distinct yet fully divine persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; these three are the same in substance, equal in power and glory.

(Genesis 1:1) (Genesis 1:26) (Deuteronomy 6:4-5) (Matthew 28:19) (John 1:1-3)

(John 4:23-24) (Acts 17: 24-28) (Romans 1:19-20) (Ephesians 4:4-7)

– The Father

We believe in God the Father, an infinite personal spirit, unchangeable in His being, perfect in holiness, justice, goodness, and truth. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise.

(Deuteronomy 32:3-4) (1 Kings 8:39-40) (Psalm 89:13-14) (Proverbs 2:6-8) (Proverbs 15:3) (Isaiah 6:3) (Matthew 23:9)
(Luke 10:21,22) (Romans 1:7) (Romans 11:33-36) (1 John 3:19-20) (1 Peter 1:3-5) (Revelation 1:5-6)

– The Son, Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. Being in very nature God and having taken upon Himself human nature, He fulfilled the Law living a perfect, sinless life. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death through His shed blood on the cross, bodily resurrection on the third day, and ascension to heaven where He is seated at the right hand of God to make intercession for His people and will personally return again in glory and judgment. He is the only mediator between God and man.

(Psalms 2:4-12) (Isaiah 53) (Matthew 1:18–25) (Matthew 20:28) (John 3:16-18) (Acts 1:10-11) (Romans 5:6–8) (Romans 6:8-11)
(1 Corinthians 15:3-4) (Hebrews 1:1-5) (Hebrews 9:27-28) (1 Timothy 2:3-6) (I Timothy 3:16) (1 John 5:20) (Revelation 5:9-14)

– The Holy Spirit

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit to glorify Christ, convict the world of sin, and regenerate and sanctify all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide, and provides strength and power for godly living and service.

(Ezekiel 36:26-27) (John 6:63) (John 14:15-17) (John 14:26) (John 15:26) (John 16:13-15) (Romans 8:9)

(1 Corinthians 3:16-17)(1 Corinthians 6:19-20) (Galatians 5:22–26)

Man

We believe that God created human beings, male and female, in His own image. He created them sinless, equal in value, dignity, and worth. As a result of the Fall, all people are sinners by nature, estranged from their Creator, thus deserving death as the punishment for their sin and in need of a Savior. Only through faith alone in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior can salvation be obtained and a right relationship with God restored.

(Genesis 1:26-28) (Genesis 3) (Psalm 8:3-6) (Psalm 51:5) (Jeremiah 17:9) (Acts 17:26-31) (Romans 1:18-32)

(Romans 3:10-12) (Romans 3:23) (Romans 15:12-21) (Ephesians 2:1-10)

Salvation

We believe Salvation is a free gift from God, not a result of our good works, and that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, who by His own death, burial, and resurrection obtained eternal redemption for those who believe. Through repentance and faith, the believer receives forgiveness of sins and is restored to a right relationship with God. The unbeliever will experience eternal separation from God, for there is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

(Daniel 12:2) (John 1:12-13) (John 3:14-18) (John 5:24) (John 5:28-29) (John 10:27-29) (Acts 2:21) (Acts 3:18-20) (Acts 5:29-32)

(Acts 16:30-34) (Romans 3:21-26) (Romans 5:19) (Romans 10:8-13) (1 Corinthians 15:42-44) (Ephesians 2:4-10) (Philippians 3:8-11)

(Colossians 2:13-14) (Titus 3:4-8) (2 Thessalonians 1:5-12) (1 John 1:9)

The Church

We believe in the universal church, consisting of men and women from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all who have been regenerated by saving faith are members. We believe that each local congregation is an expression of this universal church, a body of believers in Jesus Christ, disciples called to live in the power of the Holy Spirit, under the authority of the Scriptures, and committed to preaching the gospel of Christ, administering the ordinances, faithfully worshiping and serving our God, and loving one another.

(Matthew 16:15-19) (Acts 1:8) (Acts 2:42-47) (Acts 14:23) (Acts 20:28) (2 Corinthians 5:20-21) (Ephesians 1:22-23)
(Ephesians 2:19–22) (Ephesians 5:25-33) (Colossians 1:18) (1Timothy 3:1-15) (Titus 1:5-9) (1 Peter 5:1-5) (Hebrews 10:23–25)

Ordinances

We believe that the Lord’s Supper and water baptism are ordinances to be observed by the Church. Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience, a profession of the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, symbolizing the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Jesus for commemoration of His death and anticipation of His second coming. We believe that these two ordinances should be practiced until the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation.

(Matthew 26:26-29) (Matthew 28:18–20) (Mark 1:9-11) (Mark 14:22-25) (Luke 3:21-22) (Luke 22:14-20) (Acts 2:42-47)

(Acts 8:35-38) (Acts 16:30-34) (Romans 6:3–5) (1 Corinthians 10:16-17) (1 Corinthians 11:23–29) (Colossians 2:12)

Marriage and Family

Marriage was instituted by God as the joining of one man and one woman with the promise of being faithful to one another for a lifetime. Marriage ultimately serves as a type of the union between Jesus Christ and His Church. According to His purpose and design, men and women are created to fulfill distinct but complementary roles in the contexts of marriage, family, and the local church. Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and a gift from the Lord. God has given parents the responsibility to raise their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord and children should obey their parents in the Lord.

(Genesis 1:26-28) (Genesis 2:18-25) (Exodus 20:12) (Deuteronomy 6:4-9) (Joshua 24:14-15) (Psalm 127) (Mark 10:2-8)
(Ephesians 5:22-33) (Ephesians 6:1-4) (Hebrews 13:4)
